No Matter What…
Good communication is most definitely the key to peaceful relationships and conflict resolution. However it is not always easy to remember that when we meet resistance or feel threatened by a situation or person. Emotions are heightened and it’s easy to get drawn into an argument or close down and retreat somewhere safe to sooth our wounds.
The secret (so I’m told) is to stop, breathe and explore what’s really going on for you and for others. Then apply logic and kindness to the situation. I know this, and I don’t always apply it. So this little cartoon I have created is as much for me as it is for you.
It’s a little visual reminder that when someone’s upset and looking for a fight, I just need to dig a little deeper into my heart and find the soft centre of compassion to ease the situation. And in doing this there is an opportunity to be pleasantly surprised by the response. With compassionate communication, this is where the real learning begins.
